Chino Valley General Information

Chino Valley History

The first Territorial Capital of Arizona before being moved to Prescott, Chino Valley has always been an area of great interest throughout its time. Since U.S. Army Cavalry Lt. Amiel W. Whipple traveled through these parts in 1854, dubbing the area “ Chino” after the Mexican name for the abundant curly grama grass growing in the region, Chino Valley has grown and prospered like a fine desert flower. After incorporation in 1970, Chine Valley experienced an explosive growth period. Affordable lands and available services attract people from all over to this quaint area, so much so that the greater Chino area has over 12,000 residents.

Chino Valley Parks and Recreation

There are a variety of trees shading the 2.4 acres of Chino Valley's most intimate green space, Memory Park. Memory Park is a great setting for social outings with their ramada and restrooms, playground, bbq's, horseshoe pits, bocce, basketball courts and Veteran's Memorial.

Community Center Park

The Community Center Park is currently undergoing an immense, ongoing rehab of the community's signature venue for active and passive recreational activities. The Community Center Park consists of lit fields for leagues and tournaments, a skate park and an aquatic center.

Quail Ridge Park

Owned and maintained by the Town of Chino, Quail Ridge Park is a Yavapai County staple since 2005. 2.4 acres of softball fields, a playground, restrooms, and rentable ramada with bbq's call Quail Ridge Park home.

Center Street Park

A new park in the works, the Town of Chino Valley began maintaining a 3 acre parcel located on the corner of Center Street and Road 1 West in spring of 2005 and design of the park will be completed very shortly.
